Mindy slowly climbed out of bed, groaning in pain as she did so. Her head pounded with the worst headache she’d ever experienced and her stomach churned, threatening to empty itself all over her bedroom floor. Still, in spite of how miserable she felt and how much she wanted to just stay in bed, her bladder insisted that she get up anyway. “What did I eat?” Mindy muttered, her memories of the previous night a bit of a fog. “Or maybe it’s just a bad cold…” She slowly put on her robe and slippers, simple actions which took five times longer than they normally would. Once Mindy was ready to go out in public, or at least into the rest of the house, she opened her bedroom door. In an instant, the family dog burst through the opening, collided with Mindy’s legs and nearly knocked her over. “Not now, Mork,” Mindy snapped at the hyperactive terrier. “Go pester Mom…” Mork bounced around a few more times before racing back out the door.
